Montagne de la Croix

Montagne de la Croix lives up to its name: an illuminated cross stands at the summit, which is accessible by car and offers an exceptional viewpoint over Lac-Mégantic. Erected in 1950 by local citizens in response to Pope Pius XII’s call, the 21-metre cross has lit up the skies over Mégantic for more than 70 years. Located at an elevation of about 500 metres, the site is now a favourite spot for family picnics, romantic walks and quiet moments of reflection. Parc de la Croix lumineuse is an easy, peaceful stop for admiring the landscape and discovering a significant heritage site in the Eastern Townships.
