As its French name suggests, Montagne des lignes is located in Chartierville, along the U.S. border. There is even a border crossing in a mountain pass at 720 metres in elevation. Don’t forget your passport! Once you cross the border, the Connecticut Lakes State Forest stretches as far as the eye can see. For long-distance hiking enthusiasts, Montagne des lignes is also the starting point for the Sentiers frontaliers, a 138 km trail network. While you’re in the area, head to Côte magnétique. Put your car in neutral and watch it move forward on its own along Route 257. A phenomenon guaranteed to leave you speechless.
